I arrived in south Texas in August but had to wait until October for the arrival of my van dad and mom. They left Michigan in late October on a two wheeled machine called Beamer. They rode 1400 miles and experienced all kinds o weather, including getting caught in a serious downpour.
Sometime things just work out. Well, really, things work out most of the time. This gives my van parents lots to be thankful for on a daily basis. Leaving the little town of Glenwood Arkansas on an early Sunday morning started out great. For the first time in eight months they got to sit down inside a McDonalds and drink their coffee and eat breakfast. ❤️❤️❤️ Yum yum, gonna make it all the way to the Texas daughters place by evening. Well, not quite. Turned the key in the ignition and got nothing. Van dad needed a multi meter to determine if it was the battery or the alternator. Sunday morning and no auto part stores open. Van mom just kept calling and leaving messages until someone answered. Gary turned out to be a life saver. He determined it was the battery and then drove to Hot Springs, bought the battery, returned and got us on the road by 11 am. Like helping people out at the hardware store, paying it forward paid off. The Beamer didn’t make it all the way to south Texas, but it did get to hang out at a really cool hotel in College Station.
