Sunday….kind of a funny name for a van. There is a story behind the name, but first a little bit about myself. I am a 2019 Sprinter van with a Freightliner badge on the front grill. Apparently, I checked off a number of boxes that were important to my new van dad. I am a one ton dually diesel with a full length head liner and two windows. My 170 inch nonextended wheel base makes me pretty easy to park most anywhere, and I came with a towing package. I am sure it was the Freightliner badge that sealed the deal….not many of those on the road and it is so TRUCK and makes me an outlier. You can see why I was so attractive. My van dad had been looking a longtime to find just the right van for a diy project. It worked out pretty darn good, as I was sitting in Dallas Texas and the nice salesman agreed to have me delivered to the Texas daughters place in Houston. I made that trip in August where I anxiously waited for my new van dad and van mom to come from Michigan to start the DIY project.
Now the story on how I got my name. My new owners just recently sold their hardware store in Grand Marais, MI. The last summer of ownership (2019) found them understaffed, overworked and exhausted. The end of each day found them remembering a sermon that they heard on Easter Sunday several years ago. The preacher was describing (with much emphasis) Good Friday, the day our Lord was crucified. “He was nailed to the cross, but Sunday was coming! He died on that cross, but Sunday was coming! They laid Him in the tomb, but Sunday was coming! All hope was gone, but Sunday was coming!” Every evening they reminded themselves that “Sunday was coming!” The day would come when the store would sell and the next part of their lives would begin. The store did sell and Sunday had arrived. My name reminds them of Gods promises and His provision and promises in their lives.
This blog is a way for my new owners to share with their friends this next chapter in their lives. If you have been invited to follow this blog, then consider yourselves special to them. Hop aboard and ride along for a Sunday D’rive.
Excited to follow the journey!
