Spring means new baby chicks. This is an exciting event in the Stottlemyer household. The flock currently stands at about 20 hens, so todays additions will be minimal. The selection started with two turkey chicks. These were promptly named “Thanksgiving” and “Gooblelina”. Then it was two Silkies, known for their atypically fluffy plumage, smaller size and kid friendly personalities. Welcome Pom Pom and Lady Gaga. Sarah had met a Frizzle chicken in Grand Marais named Lady Gaga at the Mercantile. Guess that name stuck with her. Lastly a Rhode Island Red chick name Brownie 2.0. Sarah was just glowing on the way home.
