To day was spent mostly on the road. We were headed to Koekuk Iowa. There was camping in a large parking lot right next to the Mississippi River. There was a very intense storm system that was heading across a large portion of the country. A major snow storm back in Grand Marais and severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, hail and tornados in our area. Upon arriving in Koekuk we were disappointed to find there were no facilities. We decided to continue west, which took us out of the major path of the storm. We landed at Lake Show Me campgrounds. Rustic, but very pretty. Unfortunately the wind was blowing so hard we weren’t able to enjoy being outside. The wind was rocking the van, so we just holed up for the rest of the evening. We missed the worst of the storm, thank you Jesus, and enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
